Our Approach
At Lighthouse Literacy, instruction is intentional, research-informed, and thoughtfully designed to support lasting reading growth. Each session is grounded in proven methods, guided by my training in the science of reading, and shaped to fit real families with real schedules—without sacrificing quality or care.
Systematic Orton-Gillingham–Informed Instruction
Lessons follow a structured, sequential approach informed by Orton-Gillingham principles and the science of reading. Skills are taught explicitly and systematically, helping students build strong reading foundations in a clear, logical order that supports confidence, accuracy, and long-term retention.
Short, Focused Lessons
Sessions are intentionally kept concise to maximize attention, engagement, and learning—especially after a full school day. Shorter lessons help students stay focused, experience success, and leave feeling encouraged rather than overwhelmed, while also respecting the busy schedules of families.
Individualized Lesson Plans
No two readers are the same. Each lesson is carefully planned based on the student’s strengths, needs, and progress. Instruction is adjusted as the child grows, ensuring steady improvement and meaningful support at every stage of the reading journey.
