At Lighthouse Literacy, sessions are designed to provide clear, research-informed reading support in a calm, encouraging environment. Instruction is individualized, structured, and thoughtfully paced—helping students build strong literacy foundations without pressure or overwhelm.
Lighthouse Literacy offers individualized reading instruction for elementary-aged students who need additional support developing foundational reading skills.
Instruction is informed by the science of reading and guided by Orton-Gillingham methods, with a focus on helping students understand how reading works—not just memorizing or guessing.
Areas of support may include:
Phonemic awareness
Phonics and decoding
Word reading and spelling patterns
Reading fluency & comprehension
Reading confidence and stamina
Each lesson builds carefully on previously taught skills to promote long-term success.
Individualized Instruction
No two readers are the same. Every student begins with an informal assessment to identify strengths, areas of need, and instructional starting points.
From there:
Lessons are tailored specifically to your child
Instruction adapts as progress is made
Skills are taught at an appropriate pace—never rushed
This ensures instruction remains targeted, supportive, and effective.
Lesson Structure: Short, Focused Sessions
Sessions are intentionally designed to be 30 minutes in length.
Shorter lessons:
Maximize attention and engagement
Reduce fatigue and frustration
Allow students to leave feeling successful
Fit more easily into busy family schedules
This focused structure supports consistency and steady progress while respecting the needs of both students and families.
Support for Homeschool & After-School Learners
Lighthouse Literacy works with:
Homeschooled students
Students attending public or private school
Families seeking supplemental reading support
Instruction complements—not replaces—school instruction and is designed to strengthen foundational skills that support classroom success.
Progress Monitoring & Communication
Families are kept informed throughout the learning process.
You can expect:
Ongoing observation and progress monitoring
Clear communication about instructional focus
Honest, realistic expectations for growth
My goal is to partner with families—so you always understand what your child is working on and why it matters.
